Introduction To Grinding Methods For Different Traditional Chinese Medicine Varieties

Dry pulverization, also known as conventional pulverization, is the most commonly used method for traditional Chinese medicine pulverization, which refers to the pulverization of drugs after appropriate drying treatment. For example, using iron grinding boats, ball mills, hammer machines, universal crushers, etc. for crushing, this method has the advantages of simple operation and one-time powder formation, while the disadvantage is that continuous operation can easily generate heat and cause combustion. In practical operation, there are four different methods based on the different drug substances.
(1) Separate crushing refers to the crushing of a single medicine separately. This method is applicable to the crushing of resin, gum, precious, toxic, and small sized seed drugs.
(2) Mixed crushing refers to the mixing of all or part of the ingredients in a prescription for crushing. This method is suitable for crushing group drugs with similar texture in prescriptions. It can avoid the difficulties caused by the viscosity or oiliness of some drugs in the crushing process. The pulverization of medicines such as ripe glutinous rice, Angelica sinensis, and Apricot ten.
(3) The mixing and grinding method, also known as the string oil method, involves keeping small and oily ingredients in the prescription, crushing other drugs into powder, and then gradually adding this mixed powder to the oily ingredients. The ingredients are then crushed once. This way, the first crushed medicine can absorb the oily ingredients in a timely manner and do not adhere to the crusher and sieve holes. Add sesame seeds, almonds, melon withered kernels, Yu Li kernels, etc.
(4) The string milling method, also known as the string milling method, involves leaving behind the "sticky" ingredients in the prescription. First, other ingredients are mixed and crushed into coarse powder, and then the mixed ingredients are gradually mixed with the "sticky%" ingredients, and then crushed again. The "sticky" substances are timely dispersed and adsorbed by the light crushed powder during the crushing process, allowing for smooth crushing and sieving, such as raw materials, black ginseng, Codonopsis pilosula, longan meat, etc. Wet crushing
When certain drugs are crushed and ground, they may adhere to the tool or agglomerate again into blocks (such as ice sheets). If an appropriate amount of water or other liquid is added to the drug for grinding, it is easier to form fine powder. There are three commonly used methods: grinding water jet method, wet grinding method, and co solution grinding method
(1) The grinding water fly method utilizes the different suspensions of coarse and fine powders of drugs in water to separate and purify fine powders. This method is mainly applicable to certain mineral drugs and toxic drugs that are insoluble in water. Medicines such as realgar, cinnabar, talc, pearls, etc.
(2) Wet grinding method, also known as liquid addition grinding method G, involves placing drugs in a moistened crushing container or sprinkling a little water, ethanol, or sesame oil on the drugs before grinding and crushing. This method is mainly applicable to dry grinding of drugs that are easily bound into blocks, such as ice tablets, camphor, etc.
(3) The co solution grinding method is called co solution grinding when two or more drugs are mixed and ground into fine powder, resulting in wetting or liquefaction. Common ones include menthol and camphor, as well as menthol and borneol.

Traditional Chinese medicine has a long history, and the earliest methods of traditional Chinese medicine crushing were inefficient and rough, such as manual and ship research. However, the development of modern technology has led to significant changes in the types of traditional Chinese medicine crushers. Choosing different types of crushers based on the nature of traditional Chinese medicine can effectively improve crushing efficiency and fineness. There are various types and properties of traditional Chinese medicine, which is also why there are many types of traditional Chinese medicine pulverizers nowadays. Currently, there is no single traditional Chinese medicine pulverizer that can crush all types of traditional Chinese medicine. For many manufacturers' promotion, it is important to keep an eye open. Users can choose a traditional Chinese medicine pulverizer based on their actual needs and the requirements for crushing traditional Chinese medicine.
